Clap hands, another British movie. This one emanates from the Tudor Gates 9-5 Scriptwriting Factory (which brought you vampire horrors such as Carmilla, Mircalla, Caramello etc). Now the Great Pen has turned out a musical, built for TV stars and aimed at the C-D Benidorm market. Billy Beethoven, a group managed by Richard Beckinsale, tour Spain and are pursued by their three girlfriends (the fourth member has a fixation for Diana Dors, his mum). In order of appearance, the girls bump into Arthur Mullard, David Kossoff, Hattie Jacques, John Le Mesurier, Ian Lavender... What makes the film less than terrible is the professionalism of the players, who could all have used a much better story and dialogue. Adrienne Posta is great as usual; Graham Bonnet acts well and his songs are okay.Author: AN
