Till There Was You (1990)
Director: John Seale
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
New Yorker Frank Flynn (Harmon) packs his saxophone and travels to the South Pacific island of Vanuatu, adopted home of his brother Charlie. On arrival, he learns of Charlie's murder, and encounters sultry blonde Anna (Unger). Regretting her marriage to raving villain Big Viv (Krabbe), she joins Frank in his investigation, which leads to the jungle where the Bunlap tribe reside. Seale (cameraman on Dead Poets Society, Gorillas in the Mist) makes an unremarkable debut as director on this laboured hokum, which involves sunken treasure and an uneasy mix of violence and humour. One notably silly scene has Frank execute a bungy jump, a sacred Bunlap ceremony rounded off when - complete with funny sound effects - tribal members line up to squeeze his balls.Author: CM
