Tokyo Pop (1988)
Director: Fran Rubel Kazui
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Rock'n'roll proves an international language in this amiable but naff musical travelogue. Hamilton's an aspiring artiste whose career's going nowhere in New York, so she accepts a friend's invite to join her in the Japanese capital, where local muso Tadokoro reckons she's the perfect frontwoman for his new beat combo. Tokyo itself comes over rather better than the songs devised by this cross-cultural supergroup.Author: TJ
