Tomorrow's Weather (2003)
Director: Jerzy Stuhr
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
There's a certain piquancy in seeing Jerzy Stuhr in a satirical drama about the shortcomings of capitalist Poland. After all, in Kieslowski's films, notably Camera Buff, he was often cast as the everyman at odds with the communist regime. This is a likeable, if under-charged, affair in which a former monk returns to society after many years behind the monastery walls. He encounters a world of greed, political opportunism and trashy reality TV shows. The conceit is far from original, but Stuhr excels at playing the holy innocent (a character akin to Chance the gardener in Being There) and, as a director, he manages to make some trenchant points about the venality of contemporary Polish society.Author: GM
