Topper (1937)
Director: Norman Z McLeod
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Thorne Smith's novel about a dull banker (Young) haunted by dashing ghosts (Bennett and Grant) proved popular enough as a film to spawn two sequels and a TV series. Now it seems an archetypal piece of cinematic fluff from the '30s - too gentle and leisurely to survive as a solid classic, though there's pleasure to be found in the cast's graceful way with comedy and their smooth ensemble playing.Author: GB
