Tout ça… pour ça!!! (1993)
Director: Claude Lelouch
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
A judge (m), his lawyer lover (f) and their respective spouses take an uneasy holiday together on Mont Blanc. Meanwhile a taxi driver, a waiter and a hairdresser, in despair at the state of their love lives, join forces and embark on a petty crime spree. All ends in the courtroom, with a shift into fantasy and a fireworks-accompanied celebration of release and reconciliation. The director's geniality to characters and audience alike is displayed here at optimum force, and even dissenters should admire the skill with which he sends five separate stories hurtling around the film like dodgem cars, reversing into and out of flashback, and maintaining perfect clarity throughout. Again, we find a taste for contrasting a flamboyant visual style with understated performances, the agitated Luchini excepted.Author: BBa
