Trail of the Pink Panther (1982)
Director: Blake Edwards
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
The presence of Blake Edwards and most of the original Pink Panther team shouldn't fool you into thinking that this is an entirely new adventure. Instead, there are some out-takes of Sellers from the previous movies, tacked together with an anorexic plotline. After that, we suffer Lumley's Fronch aksonted TV reporter, whose task is to track down 'the essential Clouseau', linking a lot of 'flashback' clips, interviews with the 'Panther' stars in character, and some embarrassingly unfunny reconstructions of the detective's early life. Made two years after Sellers' death, possibly motivated as a tribute, this garbled piece of incestuous myth-massaging forfeits any sympathy through its shamefully mismanaged construction.Author: FL
