Riefenstahl's record of the sixth Nazi congress at Nuremberg in 1934, a massive documentary tribute to the German concept of the Aryan super-race. Technically brilliant, and still one of the most disturbing pieces of propaganda around. Interesting to note that at the same time the British were also indulging in mass demonstrations of physical prowess - women were putting on large PT displays in Wembley Stadium.Author: CPe

- Posted on Jun 25 2011 13:38 I've studied this film backwards and forwards and what you state in your summary here is simply not true. No where does Riefenstahl make a claim that her film documents or celebrates the beginning of the 1,000 year Reich. It clearly wasn't her intention portray anything other than the typical Nordic affinity for spectacle and pageantry. She was obviously an artist and a film maker caught up in documenting her times and within the context of place. She has been unfairly judged and shunned for years as are all people of note during controversial times.
