Trojan Eddie (1995)
Director: Gillies MacKinnon
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
A predominantly downbeat tale of the relationship between Rea's down-at-heel chancer - a real loser despite his gab - and his boss (Harris, in convincingly nasty form), the big man of the local underworld, who puts Rea in a perilous middle-man position when he takes a shine to a young gypsy girl. Despite plenty of wit and pleasing twists in the story, this is essentially an unusually sombre character study, played to perfection by a strong cast and enormously assured in its vivid but decidedly untouristy depiction of Irish landscape and society.Author: GA
