Lease of Life (1954)
Director: Charles Frend
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
A Yorkshire parson (Donat) is given a year to live by his doctor, but conceals the news from his family in this tepid saga of conscience, written by Eric Ambler for Ealing. His remaining concern is to provide for daughter Corri, but the money for her musical scholarship will be harder to find when a contentious sermon loses him the opportunity of a better-paid post. Sincerity is never in doubt, but the drama's so low-key as to be almost non-existent.Author: TJ
