Lemonade Joe (1964)
Director: Oldrich Lipsky
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
The very idea of a Czech-made Western is so inherently funny it comes as something of a shock how unassuming the film itself turns out to be. Suggestive of a B-movie horse opera soon after sound came in (1929, say) in black and white, complete with occasional colour tints, scratches and missing frames, the film camps it up with jokey character names and smirky silliness. Closer to Blazing Saddles than Destry Rides Again, but closer still to the dire Cactus Jack. It was probably a hoot to make.Author: TCh
