Light in the Piazza (1961)
Director: Guy Green
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Elizabeth Spencer's baroque, almost Jamesian novel of New World corruption versus Old World integrity is brought to the screen in the form of a 'grand tour' of North Italy. In the course of this, Olivia de Havilland tries to marry off her mentally retarded daughter (Mimieux) to a wealthy Italian (Hamilton). Sadly, it quickly falls prey to that most awesome of cinema's horrors - Rossano Brazzi - as attraction develops between de Havilland and the boy's father. A terrible film.Author: PH
