Movie review

From Time Out Film Guide

The former critic Yee Chi-Yen's debut feature traces an intricately linked network of romantic dreams, delusions and desires across half a dozen well-drawn and superbly acted characters. At its core, a middle-aged office accountant (played against type by the woman who is Taiwan's answer to Oprah), endlessly frustrated by her daughter, husband and mother-in-law, starts imagining that she could have an affair with the new office boy. He, of course, is gay, and has more than enough problems of his own. Yee reveals the complexities of the characters bit by bit, and maintains a sense of humour even when things start to go badly wrong for them.
