The Lonely Lady (1982)
Director: Peter Sasdy
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Hollywood on Hollywood again: Harold Robbins' sleazy little yarn features Pia Zadora as a wide-eyed ingénue in a slashed dress, fresh out of high-school creative-writing courses, and learning about Beverly Hills on the wrong side of a very nasty rape with a garden hose. In no time at all she is scrabbling her way to a screenwriting Oscar through the land where every Mercedes convertible has a toupee. It's hardly her talent with a pen that knocks them horizontal, but apart from a curious tendency to shower all the time with her dress on, such rogueries threw this spectator into a deep state of lacquered composure.
