The Love Lottery (1953)
Director: Charles Crichton
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Worn down by the pressures of Hollywood stardom and the attentions of his female fans, Niven, a British movie star, flees Hollywood for the sanctuary of Italy, only to allow Lom, the head of a gambling syndicate, to put him up as the prize in a so-called 'Love Lottery'. Thereafter, Vernon buys up hundreds of tickets to boost her chances, while London typist Cummins hopes the real thing will measure up to her daydreams. Humphrey Bogart - in his only film for Ealing Studios! - pops up unbilled in the final reel of this misfiring satire.Author: TJ
