Ultrà (1990)
Director: Ricky Tognazzi
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
This second feature by Ugo Tognazzi's son offers a thoroughly joyless hour and a half in the company of football hooligans, much of it spent on the train from Rome to Turin. The moral core of the piece is the struggle of one guy to get married, go straight, and get a job - ambitions tragically thwarted when he decides to take the rap for a murder accidentally committed by his best friend. The emphasis on mindless adolescent violence and vulgarity is convincing enough, but the drama, alternately muffled and overstated, has neither grip nor punch. The climactic football match, by the way, occurs off-screen.Author: TR
