Amnesia (2001)
Director: Martin Koolhoven
Movie review
From Time Out New York
Nasty family affairs clutter Amnesia's memory lane, with van Huêt playing identical twins: Aram, a psychopath, and Alex, a morose photographer. But the film's laggard proceedings betray its title—nothing has really been forgotten or repressed. The Bad Thing the teenage twins did is recounted in humdrum flashback; reading the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual's entry for post-traumatic stress disorder yields more dramatic suspense than this tepid effort. All audience members can wish for is temporary short-term memory loss to erase the film's painful 90 minutes.Author: MA
