Milk & Honey (2003)
Director: Joe Maggio
Movie review
From Time Out New York
As with his previous drama, 2001's Virgil Bliss, Joe Maggio's Gotham-set story about a well-to-do couple whose emotional estrangement wreaks havoc over the course of a single night presents the moviegoer with an increasingly common conundrum: Is it possible to appreciate gutsy acting and twisty script turns behind a scrim of disgusting videography? The answer will vary from viewer to viewer, but the filmmaker's talent for immersive, nearly unhinged performances and caustic dialogue mark him as a fascinating throwback to John Cassavetes.Author: JR
