Movie review

From Time Out New York

An earnest crime soaper about a slain Bronx dope peddler’s college-student son (Gonzalez) coming to terms with his family’s legacy (with guns blazing, naturally), Illegal Tender has the feel of Poverty Row noir right down to its cheapjack worldliness, hasty performances and inventively threadbare visuals. In fact, it’s hard to shake the impression that this movie has the sort of penny-pinching authenticity Quentin Tarantino’s been trying for his entire career.
