Yobi, the Five-Tailed Fox (Yeu woo bi) (2007)
Director: Sung-kang Lee
Movie review
From Time Out London
As fox-human Yobi cruises above a sea of golden treetops, you just know the digital brushstrokes of this Korean animation will blow audiences away. Even many of the gags successfully translate. A small group of pre-teens (amongst them a mustachio'd boy who walks backwards) are attending the ‘Camp for Maladjusted Children’ when Yobi infiltrates their grounds in an attempt to rescue a rather reluctant hostage. Based on the legend of the gumiho (a nine-tailed fox believed to absorb human souls), the story, if a little forced at times, is a delightful escapade seasoned with spiritual musings.Author: Eleni Stefanou
