Notable as the first of the Polish Connection releases to go theatrical simultaneously in Britain and Poland – if little  else –  Zak’s would-be jolly dating- and mating-game comedy is only truly recommendable to those to like to know where a  movie is going, to receive a series of confirmation signals, and still not be disappointed to be proved right.

Magdalena Rózczka and Weronica Ksiazkiewicz play the thirtysomething flatmates, Matylda and Karolina, the former using the personal ads to find a sperm donor but definitely not the man that goes with it, the latter a self-doubting blonde bombshell signed on to Sexaholics Anonymous (well, the scriptwriters were in a hurry!). Harry (Marcin Dorocinski) meets Sally... sorry Matylda... and so starts the merry waltz.

Scored to ’50s lounge-pop (Andy Williams and Louis Prima) and conventional to the core – it never gets raunchier than rouge on the nipples – it’s too inconsequential to actively dislike,  although its brazen dependence on criss-cross coincidence to forward the plot can be mighty testing.
