From Time Out New York

They say a true friend is one who will take you to an anonymous sex group, try to kill you and then steal your identity. Or something like that. Lonely, bespectacled accountant Jonathan (McGregor) needs a pal. Enter raconteur and confidence man Wyatt (Jackman), who introduces Jonathan to women—including the mysterious S (Williams)—and makes him feel like less of a loser. Unfortunately for Jonathan, Wyatt has an agenda, and he’s not getting his buddy sex just because he wants to be a good wingman. The success of thrillers like this one depends heavily on skillfully handled smoke and mirrors, but Deception’s predictable plot turns won’t really deceive anyone

Posted on Apr 27 2008 08:37 hugh jackman is likeable in the context of being a talented persona but even those creatures cannot get away with murder in broad daylight in park royale in madrid ,now the deception is played as a game for $20 million and the players are all an anonymous bunch of highflying wall street auditors ,analysyts who play tennis in courts and also sex amours in anonymous astoria hotel rooms with promiscuous sexual inmates,
their motto is -intimacy without intricacy, all this boils down to a sex romp which explains the resurgence of goborrhea in adults ,even miss rampling indulges in hi-def porn ,
then after they have taken their frustrations out with fervent kama sutra tactics, its time to indulge in body heat and postman rings twice ,money comes after sex-as sex is always over-rated,
now the travesty of double cross cliches starts and we mortals are startled -no one who died earlier is dead ,and the twists are convoluted to a grand mess.
needless to say the obligatory blonde cannot act ,ewan mcgregor is totally miscast -he was better in his african safari tele serie, hugh is the mysterious villain and everyone is aware of that mystery,
the acting is perfunctory and painful to watch, the set design is like the millenium version of a manhattan apartment .
and the finale in madrid is bungled badly with hugh walking unchecked with a gun into ecole nacionale and then a murder in a park in daylight with a loud bang .not even a spanish dog barks ,
dont worry they go for tea afterwards to piazza calamares
dreadfully deceptive and a dastardly lie
shame on all and regrets to hughman ,co-producer.losientos -please play only tennis in future -its a safe bet.
and gracias for wasting 2 hours of my life
    buones nochez

Posted on Apr 25 2008 08:23 I thought this film was ok, but not the best i've seen. Don't get me wrong it was clear and precise but not very imaginative.
