Movie review
From Time Out New York
As if teens didn’t have enough to worry about, Harold (Breslin) suffers from premature baldness. Like Juno, in which an adult lexicon springs from the mouths of babes, not only does the pubescent look more senior than his years, he behaves like a grumpy old man, too. Harold tries to send up the standbys of high-school movies, including prom humiliation, the MILF (Sheedy), the fat kid (Nikki Blonsky) and the obligatory OMG cheerleaders. But aside from a few smart tweaks—the pedophilic absurdity of hanging out with the janitor (Gooding) and a nod to Columbine—the film doesn’t subvert the genre but rather falls afoul of it.Author: Anna King
