Movie review

From Time Out London

Bollywood’s biggest sci-fi flick is a lazy musical mishmash of every stock feature of the genre: think of it as ‘Back to the Future’ meets ‘Star Wars’ in a ‘The Fifth Element’-style world. When Aussie Indian Karan’s (Harman Baweja) girlfriend Sana (Chopra) is hit and killed by a coach in 2008, he travels in a time machine to 2050 Mumbai in order to find her.

This is because we Indians believe in reincarnation you see! Will pop star Ziesha (Chopra, again) remember her ‘lover boy’ from her previous birth? Baweja’s futuristic fable is flawed by being ridiculously long, soppy, unimaginative and consequently unengaging. Swamped with special effects the result is, like Ziesha’s robotic-talking pet teddy, a ‘Boo’.

Posted on Jul 12 2008 07:23 Harman has a nice physique and face and Priyanka matches him well.
The story has no vision at all with reincarnation inserted into a sci-fi and then it goes to future with time machine where the lover boy turns inexplicably into a superhero.
The cinematography ,costumes and SONG dances are fabulous and a visual treat ,both harman and priyanka can dance and look good in outlandish costumes .
The robots are irritating and a huge put off with a purple bunny acting as a butler and a rheumatoid superwoman who cannot walk straight playing a superrobot as QT ,
The future 2050 is a letdown with dr.ya as boman irani in a caricature of a scientific genius and hitoshi -the villain as a star war darth wader parody almost taking this movie to a pantomime ,but some good comedy in the first half and some good visuals with an attractive lead couple make it bearable .
I wish it was not as badly directed , as the boy is better then Hritik and he sure can dance and fight .
He needs a better script and director with some commonsense which this movie was devoid of completely .
Just imagine in 2050 Austrailian dollars are collectors items so our travellers from 2008 strike gold -yipee
