The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008)
Director: Rob Cohen
Movie review
From Time Out London
Making the farcical tenor of the recent Indiana Jones film feel like a paragon of dramatic and archaeological integrity, this phoned-in action threequel doesn’t even have the good grace to deliver on its title and feature any mummies (‘Reanimated Clay Statue’ doesn’t quite have the same ring to it).An increasingly tired-looking Brendan Fraser dusts off the boots and bomber jacket as Rick ‘Ricochet’ O’Connell, this time heading to China with thrillseeking missus Evy (Maria Bello) to deliver an artefact to a museum, only to be ambushed by a tyrannical general who wants to resurrect the long-dead Dragon Emperor (Jet Li) to, well… who knows why? John Hannah reprises his role as stock babbling twit while newcomer Luke Ford – an eminently slappable 1970s waxwork of Matt Damon – crops up as Rick’s annoyingly impetuous son Alex.
Creating the sense that one eye seems to have been on the film’s potential for computer-game spin-offs, with the other on the prospect of interactive museum tie-ins, Rob Cohen’s pallid direction, combined with a script packed with groan-worthy quips and dimestore mysticism, merely drags the characters from point A to point B. The humour, fun and B-movie self-depreciation of the first two chapters are also woefully absent.

- Posted on Aug 27 2008 16:17 The critics no longer writew for the audiences, they just comment on what they like or dislike and lose sight of the primary purpose of the file -to entertain nad enter a world of make belive for a a few hours - so just enjoy and the film and you will - what great actors - enjoy yourself and bring your own drinks ;)

- Posted on Aug 26 2008 12:22 I went to see the mummy and the tomb of the dragon emperor, for I found the other Mummy's brilliant. However this one was very disappointing. A bad story, and come on Yetti's? Oh and don't go near any food and drink at the cinema. ABSOLUTE RIP OFF.

- Posted on Aug 16 2008 20:34 I enjoyed this movie from the beggining to the end. I walked out of the cinema smiling :-). (too bad i didn't after avp II and i was hoping for that after seeing trailer) Maybe there could be more humour scenes like in first Mummy movie, but it was great entertainment and I would gladly see it again. I always liked adventure movies. And I liked Maria Bello as Mrs. O'connel. She did a good job, and they looked great together. I didn't feel starting from the first scene with her that that change of one of the main characters in the movie would be a minus for the whole movie, and mostly it probably is. It's easy to criticise. I was surprised with this movie in a very positive way.

- Posted on Aug 13 2008 14:46 o my days this movie was on believlable dissappointing and does no way live up to the mummy 1 & 2 not to mention the staring lady has change and the jokes came across as a bit forced, however graphics and special efects wheree really gud to bad about the movie. Really not worth the money if your over the age of 12 i wish i was lieing i suggest turning your heads to batman now thats money well spent.
