Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008)
Director: Dave Filoni
Movie review
From Time Out London
In the midst of galactic conflict, someone has kidnapped the infant son of gelatinous gangster Jabba the Hutt, and for complex reasons the Jedi are called in to investigate. If the first ‘Star Wars’ animated movie was just a parade of noisy gun battles and overblown lightsabre duels, we’d be on fairly safe ground. But this throws in all manner of bizarre distractions, from Anakin’s new Padawan apprentice, plucky pre-teen Ahsoka (who excruciatingly refers to her master as ‘Sky Guy’), to Hutt’s burping son known as Stinky. The shark-jumping moment arrives with Jabba’s crimelord uncle Ziro the Hutt. A giggling, sexually ambiguous hedonist who speaks like Eric Cartman impersonating Blanche DuBois, Ziro is the most preposterous thing to hit the ‘Star Wars’ universe since Bea Arthur in the infamous Holiday Special. He’s also the best reason to see this flimsy, kid-friendly videogame approximation of a once proud cinematic franchise. Still, at least it’s better than ‘The Phantom Menace’.

- Posted on Nov 16 2008 14:00 good god, i want to slap that "ahsoka". then again, she just about personifies this movie. as someone who watches a lot of japanese animation, i find this film to be just another example of an american cash cow trying to lure in the lowest common denominator among an impressionable audience with third-rate computer animation (honestly, i own video games that look better than this) and a rediculously bad script that obviously prefers style over substance, but ends up lacking both.

- Posted on Aug 26 2008 00:20 I would like any critics to go and see this film as if they don't find it at least good then they can not be found to be critics, As yes the nick names may not be for anyone but anyone you in the slightest liked these films will see that it stays tru to the feel of the star wars univerise. I have so far seen it 3 times and plan to see more so I hope people enjoy it as much as I do and await the tv series. Im 19 by the way not a kid so it suits all ages.

- Posted on Aug 23 2008 20:52 I write this because I've read very bad opinions about this movie. I watched it and they turned out to be just another example that you shouldn't be influenced by such "professional" reviews if you're interested in seeing a movie. I loved it and not just becouse I'm star wars fan and would probably watch everything with SW in the title. There is especially one battle sequence in the movie that is excellent, and I leave it for you to see. It's an animated movie for children you could say, but I myself being almost 30 found it great fun to watch.
