From Time Out New York

In the distant future, the corporate nations of Bauhaus and Capitol fight to the death over the planet’s dwindling resources. During one battle, an errant shell activates an infernal machine beneath the earth. (You know, the one that will release the unstoppable horde of necromutants.) And the only one who can save us is Major Mitch Hunter (Jane), a salty soldier recruited by the mystical Brother Samuel (Perlman). The film plays like an extended-cut scene from an Xbox 360 shooter, but heroic sons of bitches mixed with exploding torsos at humanity’s darkest hour sometimes equals splattery fun.

Posted on Feb 04 2009 18:18 The film was okay and I would reccomend it to fans of the genre. it had big effects and some great set pieces. The documentary on the advanced screener I was sent was absolutely brilliant and the DVD overall has excellent special features. I highly recommend it when it's out to buy.

Posted on Oct 15 2008 14:34 I love Sci-f and decided to see the movie on the spur of the moment without knowing what its about or any expectations, I found it great entertainment cros between a first world war movie, Zombie film and sci fi action. Big guns, swords, mutants, wierd machines and strange atmosphere. Great entertainment as long as you don't take it for more than it is.

Posted on Oct 14 2008 18:43 Part way through the Mutant Chronicals it dawned on me that this is a spin off from a game - prior to the film I admit to complete ignorance of this - but my partner loves sci-fi so I went along for the ride. Even though the Chronicals are set in the 28th Century the technology owes a lot to Victorian steam engines and WW1 trench warfare. There are coal burning spaceships that can travel to Mars - clearly oil has run out by 2700 - and 20th Century hand guns. The whole premise is based on an alien machine that has lain dormant for eons that creates super strength mutants from dead or injured humans. It's all predictable fun mixing in secret sects, war, zombies and sword fighting. I gave the movie 4 out of 10 but my partner thought the film worth 6/10 ... but then she's addicted to Star Trek.

Posted on Oct 10 2008 18:42 Okay it's not Citizen Kane, but I think the reviewers have missed the point. It's a fun little romp, and I actually thought it was very entertaining.
