Movie review

From Time Out London

Mean and lean Kabir (Khan) does something terrible (see title) to Sonia (Lamba) the skimpily-clad teenage daughter of Vikrant (Dutt), a millionaire Indian businessman. Dutiful dad and kiddie kidnapper play a cat-n-mouse game with each other in order to free the semi-nude abductee. This Bollywood take on ‘Ransom meets Oldboy’ (with saucy songs) opens promisingly but it rapidly degenerates. Its main flaw is an illogical script which fails to captivate. Dutt looks like he’s back on drugs; Lamba equates acting to stripping. It’s only hunky newcomer Khan who brings some dignity and eye-candy to the preposterous proceedings. Not an unmitigated disaster but the absurd shootout climax pushes it into stock escapist revenge masala fare.

Loved it for the sheer imense improbability of the script. We giggled ourselves silly about how Imran must have dragged the unconscious kidnap victim out of the water and then put her into stripper clothes and slutty boots and last but not least he must have pulled out a belly chain cause that kinda outfit called for some blingy accessoiry. What a fashion-conscious kidnapper...And pretty dreamy, too.
