Let Them Chirp Awhile (2007)
Director: Jonathan Blitstein
Movie review
From Time Out New York
Bobby (Mutual Appreciation’s Rice), a wanna-be artist, is struggling with the collective shallowness of his best friend, Scott (Sexton), Scott’s girlfriend, Michelle (Binkley), and Hart (Galligan), a no-talent hack who has won the critical acclaim that Bobby so desires for himself. While it could be argued that we need a another film about self-obsessed New Yorkers in their twenties trying to “find themselves” like we need a Louisville Slugger straight to the kidneys, Jonathan Blitstein’s debut feature works reasonably well by letting the characters’ collective emotional retardation speak for itself.Author: Drew Toal
