From Time Out London

The ‘King Khan’ is back, and this time we get another double dose of him! Surinder’s (Khan) mundane life in Amritsar as a clerk at ‘Punjab Power’ is transformed when he falls for the bubbly Taani (Sharma). Chopra’s ‘love and the average bloke’ blockbuster puts Bollywood’s biggest superstar at centre stage from the outset. Khan’s hammy antics dominate and he never fails to amuse. His ‘geek to Greek God’ makeover is unconvincing but comic and camp. The highlight is an ‘item’ dance song sequence featuring SRK that pays homage to classic Bollywood hits, with cameos from some top, hot heroines. Silly, lightweight, overlong and unoriginal; this is nevertheless shameless romantic entertainment that will undoubtedly be a hit. Welcome back Raj!

Posted on Dec 29 2008 07:38 the heroine is not apt for the character, could have chosen a more beautiful girl. yes, she is a good dancer, but i am sure khan should have got, more beautiful girls to pair with him, who have equal dancing talents, as there are lot avaiable. comming to khan's performance. yes he was good. but not excellent.. somewhere i felt the movie really boring but it kept going. but i wont recommend this movie for anyone or will see it again..
to conclude, this is an average movie

Posted on Dec 15 2008 15:55 SCENES FROM A COMPROMISED MARITAL CONSUMMATION IN AMRITSIR
RABB might not indulge as much in match making as does the yashraj banner ,but he sure does appreciate enlightened cinema with a healthy dose of risk management and innovation which has vanished from mainstream bollywood .
aditya starts from where DWDLJ ended and enters a cavernous pit filled with loopholes the size of blackholes .
the plot of a compromised marriage between a computer nerd[suri]and a philandering tomboy[tani]is borrowed from umpteen sources including SHALL WE DANCE to bolllywoods own past, but it has a silver lining which comes in the form of sensitive portrayals by the 2 main leads, some sensible dialogues and an ambivalent ambiance where aditya redeems his lame script.
divinity will definitely approve of the 2 players but the play itself is sceptical though it does engage you sporadically but it has enough guffaws from the two adults who cannot make a sexual innuendo in this age while married for months living under the same roof in an amicable manner ,while they indulge in enough songs and dancing to make you wince with a backache .
they do not have a HDTV OR EVEN MTV at home though they do have seperate bedrooms and 4 poster beds aplenty ,
yet tani dances like alesha and beyonce while raj can shake a leg like richard gere in one go while he cannot walk straight as suri in the next second ,
only yashraj can make these scripts and accomplish these ordinary miracles as rabb is indeed devoid of these tricks and treats .
the tracks are rather mundane too except haule haule but are stunningly choreographed with luscious cinematography .
anushka as tani with her perfect set of teeth and khan as the geeky husband impersonating a flamboyant and stereotyped loud punjabi lad are the 2 main reasons to watch this diverting romcom ,
it took bollywood 4 deadly boring hours to consummate a hindu-muslim marriage in JODHA AKBAR,this mercifully is an improvement and a comparative aphrodisiac compared to recent potboilers like singh is king[SIK]and dostana[a real duck ].
though it does need a lot to be desired which is left out just like the dental hygiene of mr.KHAN which is in a dastardly neglected state compared to his costar anushka with perfect teeth ,no coincidence she is calleD TAANI too
still taani can act and dance and she is trite but not too contrite and that helps to make this an average romcom though it does not even tread within leagues of its worthy predecessor called dilwale dulhani lejayenge -
and that means it needs a lot to be desired though it is a god blessing by rabb in the contemporary indian cinema .
and it was better then 4 christmases too-
