Movie review

From Time Out London

Kevin James, last seen opposite Adam Sandler in the gay-for-pay trainwreck of ‘I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry’, ups the quality quotient ever-so-slightly for this flour-and-water kiddie comedy where he plays the corpulent dimwit of the title, a widowed security officer (he’s never called a ‘mall cop’) for a shopping centre in California’s Orange County.

When a gang of tattooed, gun-toting le parkour experts lay siege to his mall, he’s put through a ‘Dawn of the Dead’ type set-up for which he sheds his bumbling idiot schtick and takes them out one by one. First thing to say is that this is only for the very young or easily pleased, with much of the humour deriving from James rolling about on the floor or crashing into the scenery on his Segway. Unmemorable, unfunny and unoriginal, this was a hit in the US, so brace yourself for the further adventures of Paul Blart in the not-too-distant future.

Posted on Sep 26 2009 20:41 Anyone who says they enjoyed this movie either works for the film company in selling this visual s*** or would laugh at a barn door swinging. Only thing funny is the folk that paid to watch this bollocks instead of having more fun scratching them !!! Thank god for free passes just wasted on this trashy american humour like land of the lost .Another one on the 50pence a night shelf at blockbuster " would you like popcorn & coke with that sir? or just some matches to set yourself alight "!!!!

Posted on Apr 08 2009 11:59 This film is a must see! 10/10 in my respect, the acting is fab and the clever comedy stunts are hillarious! I went to see this film with my two children aged 9 and 14. At first the film seemed to drag on a tad but i found it really started to pick up thus making much more funny and i my two sons and i found this film to have a very clever and original plot line with alot of hidden humour it may be hard for the very young children the reviewist reccomended it for, to understand. Overall a BRILLIANT family film and i reccomend it highly.

Posted on Apr 07 2009 18:05 I wasnt really interested in seeing this, but when I did I was pleasantly suprised. ok, so the first half hour alot of the laughs come from the fact that Blart is overweight and its not the highest brow comedy ever, but I dont think that matters. i really enjoyed the feelgood story and the constant stream of chuckles. seems to me that the reviewer is too busy looking for faults to enjoy himself. if you like the look of it, go see it, reviews cant tell u if you'll enjoy it or not so ignore this one too and make your own mind up...

Posted on Apr 04 2009 18:01 The critic says that Paul is a widow...guess he wasn't watching the same movie as me...if he was, he would have heard that the character's wife left him after she got her green card to live in the US. She didn't die. Clearly this is an indication that this critic was not watching the same movie as me as Paul Blart was brilliant!!!

That sums up the movie rather neatly.
Kevin James realy does have a kind of Lou Costello thing going. He could be one to see in future films-if there a lot better than this.
