Synopsis

Guinea pig spies throw a wrench in a billionaire's plans for world domination.

Movie review

From Time Out London

‘Mission: Impossible’ and ‘Short Circuit’ meet ‘Babe’ in this passable CGI-enhanced live-action kiddie diversion which takes suspension of disbelief to new levels by way of an assemblage of talking, crime-fighting guinea pigs. The padded-out story essentially revolves around malevolent entrepreneur Bill Nighy’s clichéd plan to rule the world by having questionable military-grade microchips installed in his company’s widely-distributed domestic appliances. When Zach Galifianakis’s Dr Dolittle-like miltary boffin smells a rat, he sends in twitchy-nosed rodent Darwin and his cute, well-equipped brethren to carry out a spot of against-the-clock espionage. Hollywood’s current sheep-like insistence on releasing most kids’ films in 3D continues unabated with this sprog-friendly Jerry Bruckheimer chase-fest. Rugrats will probably think differently, but I for one have had enough of watching fuzzy footage through stupid glasses. Though the film as a whole delivers ample thrills, it does lag occasionally and is encumbered by bland voiceovers and a lack of laughs

Posted on Aug 05 2009 19:46 i think its a bit rude to say 'DO NOT SEE THIS FILM' in a review. Okay, maybe you didnt like it, but I personally find it slightly unnessecary, as people have the freedom to do what they like! So you didnt happen to like the film, it doesnt mean that others wont? So please think before posting a review, cos I get annoyed when I see reviews like that and im sure other people do too. Yes, you are entitled to your own opinion, however I really think that certain things people leave in their reviews is just pure arrogance. I am seeing this film tomorrow, i look foward to it. :)

Posted on Aug 01 2009 23:29 This is just about the worst film I've ever seen. The film must be aimed at the 5-10 age group. The plot's technobabble went way over the head of my 8 year old as did the few reference jokes (the 12 year old wisely refused to go). For the rest it stole liberally from StormBreaker, Transformers and even the Jungle Book as said 8 year old pointed out. Plodding, uninspired, far too violent for the age group and just not very funny. Dull and unoriginal, the 3-D (which generally I hate) was the only decent thing to watch.

Posted on Jul 31 2009 23:34 This film would have been fine without 3D. The professional reviewer is correct in his comment about kids films always being in 3D now. We're all sick of it especially as it's an excuse to charge parents more money per ticket for watching a 3D movie even if you bring glasses from the last 3D kids film!! Give us the choice by showing it with and without 3D please.

Posted on Jul 30 2009 10:01 I have no interest in this film, but I think it's pretty bad for a professional reviewer to be so dismissive of all 3D films. Why send a reviewer who hates 3D films to review a 3D film?
