Here Comes The Boom (2012)

Synopsis

Long-running sticom ‘The King of Queens’ made Kevin James a massive star in his native US, but those of us who only know him from the likes of ‘Hitch’ and ‘Paul Blart: Mall Cop’ might be wondering why this rotund, likeable but unexceptional light-comedy player keeps getting all these huge roles. Perhaps ‘Here Comes the Boom’ will help explain a few things. James stars as Scott Voss, a music-loving biology teacher who takes a part-time job as a martial arts tutor in an effort to raise money for the school band. Well, there have been worse ideas for movies. Salma Hayek features as, we’re going to assume, James’s unlikely love interest, while Henry Winkler also appears as, we’re going to assume again, either the principal, or the down-on-his-luck music teacher. Director Frank Coraci was responsible for the likes of ‘Click’ and ‘Zookeeper’ – but he made ‘The Wedding Singer’ too, so you never know.
