Movie review
From Time Out Online
The deserving winner of three awards at the Locarno Film Festival, including its top prize, the Golden Leopard, ‘Back To Stay’ is a beautifully modulated Argentinean family portrait about the relationship between three college-age sisters living together in a large, run-down house after their grandmother, who raised them, dies. Marina is the responsible older sister who pays the bills and deals with practical matters; Sofia is obsessed with clothes and her appearance; and Violeta wanders around the house aimlessly. The women sulk and bicker as all sisters do, but this quiet film also depicts the unspoken closeness they share, despite their differences. An insightful study of familial grief, which also conveys an authentic understanding of what it means to be a sister.Author: Sarah Cohen
