Movie review

From Time Out Online

North-eastern France, where the sleepy community of Mouthe is known for its freezing temperatures and as the birthplace of a cutie TV weather-girl. Her corpse is found in the snow just as Jean-Paul Rouve’s pulp thriller writer hits town to learn that he’s been ignored in a rich relative’s will. Stuck for material for a new book, he starts investigating the dead beauty’s final days, prompting a serio-comic procedural which plays out classic gumshoe moves in incongruous provincial settings. Rouve is effectively rumpled, Sophie Quinton brings a degree of depth to the troubled heroine, but the film bets everything on a Marilyn Monroe angle which brings flashes of intermittent wit but never really goes anywhere.
