From Time Out Online

Alexandra McGuiness’s first feature immerses us in a vapid world of rich, aimless, fashionable Londoners, mostly in their twenties, whose lives are a whirl of parties, gallery openings and self-regarding conversations outside cafés. Our shy, sensitive guide (and, one assumes, at least partly the filmmaker’s alter ego) is Alice (Antonia Campbell-Hughes, looking more like a rabbit in the headlights than a real, breathing human), a model-turned-wannabe-actress who is looking for new love and meaning in her life. Like its pretty, well-dressed (or, more accurately, acutely styled) characters, ‘Lotus Eaters’ looks good in black and white, but only a few of its most intimate moments convince. Mostly, we’re with a braying, caricatured ensemble which spouts poor dialogue and drowns out anything more tender or well-observed that the film may wish to say about the elegantly wasted.

Posted on Oct 21 2011 00:03 A group of spoilt rich kids wander between frequent extravagant parties doing bleep all talking gibberish. They all appear to be NEETs (Not in Education, Employment or Training). All the characters are one-dimensional, unlikeable and poorly acted by the cast, including Antonia Campbell-Hughes, I'm sorry to say, who only reprises her role as the drippy daughter in "Lead Balloon".
There is no plot to speak of. One of the characters dies of a drugs overdose about halfway through but I was so bleeped off about my time being wasted I couldn't have cared less.
The only thing going for this film is that it's mercifully short (about 80 minutes).
I regret having to be so negative but not only did I pay money to see this film, I also wasted a day of my holiday allowance.
