Synopsis

Lee Child is a Coventry-born writer whose series of American-flavoured mainstream crime thrillers has captured the imagination of readers across the globe. It was only a matter of time, therefore, before Hollywood showed interest in his ex-army character Jack Reacher and this Tom Cruise vehicle is the result. Reacher is one of those characters who always seems to get sucked into some bizarre crime scenario, in this instance a mass killing in a public piazza. Director Christopher McQuarrie is casting Cruise in the role of Reacher – a little odd given that Reacher is described in the books as a strapping, six-foot, rugby-sized lunk – and, wait for it, documentarist Werner Herzog as a baddie.
