If I Were You (2012)
Director: Joan Carr-Wiggin
Synopsis
The woman with the greatest name in acting – Marcia Gay Harden – meets an up-and-coming writer-director with a moniker which is almost as magnificent – Joan Carr-Wiggin – for an intimate comedy-drama about amateur dramatics and marital strife. Harden stars as a pissed-off wife who decides to get revenge on her husband’s younger mistress by – among other things – casting her as The Fool in a production of King Lear. Well, there’ll be weirder plots this year, but we can’t think of any off hand. Still, we reckon MGH is a pretty solid reason to give any film the benefit of the doubt.
