Time Out says

This low-budget British effort brings a dose of the slasher movie to rural Britain while keeping one magpie eye on the eccentricities of TV’s ‘Sherlock’ and the other on some of the outward tics of the ‘Twilight’ series.

Debut feature director Ryan Andrews tries hard to bring a little menace and style to his and Riyad Barmania’s script, which tells of two outsiders, Elfie Hopkins (Jaime Winstone) and her speccy friend, Dylan Parker (Aneurin Barnard), who become suspicious about the slick young family, the Gammons, headed by supercilious Charlie (Rupert Evans), who move into the area and claim to run a ‘bespoke travel agency’ but may have a link to a series of disappearances.

The big problem is the character of Elfie who dresses kookily with blue streaks in her peroxide hair but is far less exciting than the filmmakers must assume, and a laidback Winstone plays her with little energy or charm. There’s a hint of camp pleasure to be gained from the film’s early soft-focus domestic scenes and late hysterics, but ‘Elfie Hopkins’ is sunk by a lame script and mannered performances.
