Sandwiched between waterside Kennedy Caddesi and the suburban railway line, the Armada scores low on location, although it is only a ten-minute walk up the hill to the sight-studded heart of Sultanahmet. The real advantage is that most rooms have fantastic, uninterrupted Bosphorus views.
Modelled on a row of 19th-century houses that once stood here, the building is now a bit stuck in the 1980s. The fancy lobby has a terrapin pond and café, while the 110 rooms, if not exceptional, are comfortable and slightly bigger than the average Sultanahmet room.
