On the roof garden of the 18-storey Marmara Pera Hotel, Mikla is one Istanbul's most exclusive eateries. The project of Turco-Finnish chef Mehmet Gürs, the menu reflects both sides of his heritage and is brief but inventive. Starters are big enough to share (just as well, as prices are steep).
Mains might include grilled grouper with tomatoes, aubergines, anchovies, capers, olive oil and poached artichoke, or pistachio-crusted lamb chops with potato, pistachio purée and pomegranate molasses. The place doesn't fill up until 10.30pm; you'll miss the buzz if you book too early.
