Waterpipe, hookah, or 'hubbly-bubbly'. Call it what you will, Turks have been smoking the narghile since the early 17th century.
Meşale is perhaps the most popular place on this side of the Golden Horn. This sunken café beside an arcade of tourist shops is very pleasant when the shops close and locals descend. There are nightly performances of Turkish classical music and dervish dancing shows on Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 8pm and 10pm.
