On a hilltop with a stunning vantage point over the Golden Horn, this café is dedicated to French naval officer Pierre Loti, who was so obsessed with Istanbul that he took to masquerading as a Turk and remodelled his house as a 'Sultan's palace'.
Legend has it Loti would sit at this spot for hours, gazing over the city and gathering inspiration for his literary masterpiece, Aziyade. To get to this modest teahouse, climb up through the scenic cemetery near Eyüp Mosque or take a cable car, which is signposted from the mosque.
