An apartment hotel with history. The house formerly belonged to the Kamondos, an important Levantine banking family, who gave their name to the sculpted steps that lead up to the residence from Voyvoda Caddesi. The solid brick building later served as a Jewish school.
It is now split into 15 comfortably furnished apartments, which each sleep four. Smaller two-bedroom apartments are available in the next building. The decor is homely in an old-fashioned way, with four-poster beds, vintage armchairs and sofas. Each apartment has a fully equipped kitchen, but there's also a restaurant on the roof and a bare-brick café in the vaulted cellar.
It is close enough to walk across the bridge to Eminönü and the bazaar, but just downhill from the Galata Tower and Beyoĸlu.
