Another 19th-century Ottoman residence stripped down and dressed up by the Turkish Touring and Automobile Association and pressed into service as a hotel. There are 26 rooms, all done out in early 1900s fashion. There is also a family annex with one master bedroom and a single room.
The restaurant, Asitane, is renowned for its authentic Ottoman cuisine. Next door is the Church of St Saviour in Chora, one of Istanbul's essential sights. But the big snag is the location, out by the old city walls and about a half-hour bus ride from Sultanahmet, or around YTL10 in a taxi. But if you had a reason to be in this part of town, this would be the place to stay.
