Turkish bears and other earthy types who won't do with the bright lights and thumping electronica of Beyoĸlu gather here in the comparatively more exotic neighbourhood of Aksaray. The beer is cheap and folk music raunchily doled out by live performers. It gets busy around midnight at weekends.

Great bar very friendly & cheap drinks. Gets packed at weekends. The bar apears to reserve seats for regulars. I arrived at 21:00 & all the tables were reserved so had to stand at the back of the bar. The nearest tram station is Yusufpaşa & not Askaray as mentioned on here. The bar is literally opposite the tram stop. Enjoy!
I had been there last february and I found it marvelous and different from other bars in Istanbul, Beverages are quite cheap. Turkish people were so friendly and I enjoyed very much the live turkish music played over there,
I had just a little problem as few people speak english but never mind I met with murat who tried to translate for me, I will try to be there in the next few weeks when travelling again to Turkey
If you want to get away from the disco lights and heavy beats (that apparently all gay men like..?) then try Durak Bar. A refreshing 'local' bar where local gent's drink, laugh and sing. Well worth a visit to see the 'real' turkey
