Located on the sixth floor of the Richmond Hotel on Istiklal Caddesi, Leb-i Derya has probably the best views of any restaurant in the city, even by Istanbul standards. The tables are placed by vast windows: very romantic, especially if the meal is timed with the setting sun. Using the best ingredients, the dishes are simple but perfectly rendered.

Highlights include parmesan crusted sea bass, beef cheek ragu and scallop ravioli. And while the menu changes with the seasons, one constant is the extraordinary Forty-Spice Steak. The restaurant stops serving lunch in July and August due to the greenhouse effect of its glass panelling. Reservation recommended.
