Opened in 2004 to commemorate the 150th birthday of Dolmabahçe Palace next door, this rambling collection of pieces salvaged from the palace's storage rooms is housed in what used to be the imperial kitchens.
Everything from crystal tumblers to copper cauldrons, samovars to silver candlesticks, French vases to Japanese porcelains are stuffed into this Ottoman time warp. Many of these antiques have been rescued from the palace cellars, which have regularly flooded over the last few decades.
