The decommissioned Silahtaraĸa Power Plant has been converted into one of Istanbul's most exciting multidisiplinary arts centres, opened in 2007. Old equipment has been retained and restored in two of the former engine rooms, which now form the Museum of Energy, and galleries house eclectic exhibitions, covering subjects including architecture and photography as well as painting. Concerts and festivals are also staged here.
