More or less unchanged since it was built in 1741, Caĸaloĸlu - pronounced 'jaah-lo-loo' - is Istanbul's most famous hamam. It is often used as a backdrop for soap ads and pop videos.
The two-storeycamekan has a baroque fountain, while the grand hararet seems inspired by the domed chamber of an imperial mosque. Illustrious bathers include Franz Liszt, Florence Nightingale and Tony Curtis.

Went there today for my first hammam experience in Istanbul. As it was highly rated, I went with high expectation, but was rather dissappointed. As it was small, and the service was poor, as the scrub was so rush and uncomplete. The messeaur was openly asking for tips, that that he really deserved it.
A few people have writetn into us today or on Twitter asking whether Facebook Places is yet live in Ireland. It isn't but our understanding is that it will be before the end of the year. So we're certainly talking to few people in Ireland about getting ready to take advantage of it when it goes live here.
